Program Spotlight: Master of Public Administration
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program at Albany State University is offered
through the Department of Public Administration, housed within the College of Business,
Education, and Professional Studies (CoBEPS). Established in 1987 and accredited by
the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) since
2004, the program equips students with the professional skills and knowledge needed
for leadership roles in government, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector.
Designed for flexibility and accessibility, the 36-credit hour curriculum can be completed either fully online or through a hybrid format that combines on-campus instruction with online coursework. The program emphasizes both theoretical foundations and practical applications, focusing on performance, accountability, professionalism, and ethics.
Through rigorous graduate-level coursework, students in the MPA program develop and apply critical thinking skills, enhance both written and oral communication, utilize advanced analytical techniques, and leverage information technology—all while cultivating a strong foundation in professional ethics. The program offers four specialized concentrations: Criminal Justice Administration, Health Administration & Policy, Human Resources Management, and Public Management. The academic journey culminates in the successful defense of a Capstone Report and completion of an MPA Portfolio, demonstrating each student's mastery of public administration principles and practices.

Dr. Soujaa, Assistant Professor of Public Administration at Albany State University, coordinates the Next Gen leadership program.
